Welcome- Carrie Fuhr

School Board Candidates- All introduced themselves and explained why they have chosen to run for school board.  The group was encouraged to either attend or watch the district sponsored Q & A session happening on October 14th.  There will be a Meet & Greet in the HS Commons from 5p-5:45p and then the forum will be from 6p-7p in the HS Performing Arts Center.  The forum will be moderated by KWQC and it will be aired live on COZI channel 6.3 and on KWQC’s digital platforms including KWQC.com

Treasurer’s Report – Emily discussed funds coming in from spirit wear sold at the Back to School Bash as well as money received from the school supply kits sold last year for this school year.

New Business-

-Donuts with Dudes- update from Rachel was that this is event is on track for 10/15 and they are looking for volunteers.  A signup will be going out for this.

-Fall Book Fair- Jen shared this will be happening October 15th-21st and volunteers will be needed for this as well.  A sign up sheet was passed around, but an email with a sign-up genius will be sent out later this week.

-Fall Conference Crunch – Lori discussed that a sign-up genius will be going out this week to parents to sign-up to bring in food, snacks, etc the week of conferences for teachers.  The Wednesday of conferences there will be a meal provided for teachers.

-Room Parents-  Susan shared that there are a few more classrooms that still in need of a room parent.  Needed classrooms are:  Madesian, Wiklund, Latham, Osborne, Wachal, LaGrow, Morton, Matos, and Sass. Please sign up if interested using the link below:

-Spirit Wear- Cari asked for opinions on styles and colors for the spirit wear order around the holidays.  We will send out a survey to get people’s opinions on this.

-Restaurant Nights- The first restaurant night will be on Monday, October 25th at Happy Joe’s.

-Flu Shot Clinic- Nurse Carol is looking for volunteers to help with this on 10/19.  Please contact her if you available to assist from 8:30a-11a that day.

Principal’s Report - Principal John Cain:

  • There will be a “Boot Camp” held tomorrow October 6th building wide to review expectations.  Students are encouraged to wear camo colors.

  • Friday, October 8th members of the Student Council will be doing a neighborhood clean-up.  PTA is sponsoring a pizza party for those students who assist with this.

  • Conference sign-up will all go out by Friday.  This year parents will need to indicate whether they want their conference to be virtual or in-person.

  • The school is working with the local hockey team to get players to attend Donuts with Dudes to sit with kids whose “dude” is not able to attend.  All students are encouraged to attend the event.

  • The WATCH Dogs event is next Wednesday, October 13th.

  • John encouraged all fundraising being done with a purpose in mind.  He suggested we work towards enhancing the landscaping at the school.  In particular getting some mature trees on the back hillside to create some much needed shaded areas.

  • The next Parent University will be in January.
