Location: Zoom Meeting

Date: Tuesday, February 9, 2021

Time: 6:30 p.m.

Welcome- Carrie Fuhr

Treasurer’s Report – Emily discussed recent income from Trivia Night.  We raised around $3,000 between the trivia and the silent auction.  This is not as much as we typically raise at the annual event, but we are all very pleased with the results given our current limitations.

Old Business:

Trivia Night- Carrie discussed the success of the event.  A suggestion was made that we do a family friendly event such as this again in addition to the adult event typically held.

Scrip- Natalie discussed that this has recently stalled, but we will look to be sending out more promotional information to jump start the fundraising efforts.

New Business

Restaurant Nights- February 18th Pancheros, March: Bad Boyz, and McDonald’s is in the works.

’21-’22 PTA Board- We are looking for a Co-President, Treasurer, and Secretary for next year’s board.

Book Fair- Jessica shared that we will be having a virtual book fair March 26-April 2.

Beyond the Bell-Members of the BTB Comprehensive Planning Committee, Cayle Higgins and Emily Bucy, discussed the after-school program.  The program runs after school Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.  There are currently 40 kids enrolled in the program and this is the current capacity.  During the program kids are assisted with and given the opportunity to work on Lexia, ST Math, reading time, and writing time.  On Wednesdays STEAM on Wheels provides programming.  In addition there are various clubs that occur on Wednesdays.  Currently there is a sign language club that the kids have been very engaged in.  The entire program is funded by a family foundation.

Principal’s Report - Principal John Cain:

Kindergarten Roundup- This will be virtual this year.  They hope to have a Kindergarten Tea in late May where families and new kindergarteners will be able to come to the school to take a tour and meet teachers.

Registration- The goal is to move registration to the Spring instead of the summer.

100% in Person Return to Learn- Parent pick up will be changing next week.  New pickup will be sent out this week as well as an instructional video.  New name tags will be sent home as well.  It is the expectation that parents picking up will not in the parking until the time their child is dismissed.  New dismissal times are K & 1st at 3:15pm, 2nd & 3rd at 3:20, and 4th & 5th at 3:25. (author disclaimer-please go off of what school sends out officially and not this writing 😊)

A question was asked about lunches and Mr. Cain stated that K, 1st, 2nd, & 5th grades will eat in the lunch room and 3rd and 4th grades will take their classroom chairs to the gymnasium and use their chairs as tables.

Another question was asked about online vs in-person teachers and Mr. Cain confirmed that there are 6 teachers in the district who are online only teachers.

After a question was asked regarding switching models, Mr. Cain shared that very few changes were made between online vs in person with individual students.

A question was asked about teacher vaccinations and Mr. Cain confirmed that teachers are now eligible for these and they have already started.

Meeting was adjourned.
