Welcome- Cari Henson

Treasurer’s Report – Emily discussed income and expenses.  One item discussed was the down payment on a new therapy dog as Egypt will begin her “retirement process” next year.

Old Business:

Apparel- Cari Henson- orders should be in next week and they will be sent home with students.

Gifts of Goodness- Gifts of Goodness went very well.  All families were taken care of and we even had more volunteers than families this year.

New Business

Teacher Appreciation-  Mr. Cain has asked teachers to be working on grade level gift ideas for families to “gift” to teachers.  Sign-up geniuses will be sent out by the end of this week or beginning of next week.  In addition to this, the PTA will get together a small thank you to teachers such as coffee and snack items for the teacher lounge.  A volunteer is needed to get this together.  Faux leather furniture is wanted for a sensory room at the school.

Scrip- Natalie talked about the ease of the Scrip program.  This program is  an easy way to purchase gift cards and raise money for the GW PTA general fund.  If you would like more information or to get started email Natalie.wenzel@hotmail.com

Restaurant Nights- We have raised around $350 so far from two previous restaurant nights.  Your Pie Night is Wednesday, December 9th.

Trivia Night- Carrie discussed Trivia Night that will be via Zoom on January 29th.  Sign-up through our PTA website or a flyer will be sent out as it gets closer.  Follow-up meetings will be scheduled.  We will have a paid group putting on the Trivia Night.  A PPT will be created to highlight sponsors, etc. during the event.  Any more ideas are welcomed.  Mr. Cain said they will try to promote trivia night throughout the month of January directed at students while they are at school.  Mr. Cain suggested a class vs class competition to encourage participation.

Principal’s Report - Principal John Cain

Mr. Cain discussed the Beyond the Bell program which is a program sponsored by an outside foundation to offer support to eligible kids after school Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.  Mr. Cain is looking for a parent or two to volunteer to be on the Grant Wood Beyond the Bell Evaluation Committee.  There was one volunteer during the meeting.  If you are interested please reach out to Mr. Cain.  Mr. Cain also discussed the Return to Learn plan and answered questions regarding this.  One option that is being looked at for 4th quarter is to bring kids gradually to 100% onsite by grade level.
